This painting and all of my tree paintings are very special to me. I love trees and feel very close to them. This painting is of an Oak tree that used to live right across the street from me. Every day I would look into it's lovely branches and see all of the wonderful life inside. Sadly this old Oak has passed away, but I will always remember it. I have many memories of other such trees ... so many more tree paintings to come!!!

The materials I use are watercolor paper hand cut to size 4.2" x 3.2", Golden fluid acrylic, bombay india ink, Daler Rowney liquid acrylic, pearlescent and shimmery inks. These Unicorns are created on watercolor paper with layers of acrylic paint. The under painting is a stormy sky in dark acrylic colors. I used a palette knife which creates a layered effect and depth of color. The Unicorns are shimmery white, bright white, gold and all sorts of color combinations ... painted with a combination of acrylic by Golden brand, Daler Rowney, Blick and Bombay India inks. Fluid acrylic paint by Golden happens to be some of my favorite paint but I also love Daler Rowney liquid acrylics which work best for their fluidity, color, lightfastness and over all fun to work with.

I like the thought behind this drawing ... i am just trying to relax and enjoy my me time and this surreal drawing is what I came up with. I love working in this style and the 'Love Matters' series is an on going theme that I am working on. Sometimes I like to talk about my art ... this is one of those times.

I have this listed for a penny, since the thought after all is that Love is more valuable than Gold. Love is our most precious commodity and without it nothing really matters ... which reminds me of the song by Queen 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

I just bought this from a seller on ebay & I am glad since i can refer to the lithograph to inspire me as I create colorful ammonites and some black and white. You cannot see Magenta unless you have a pure and sincere heart as she only appears to those in need. working on the skull reef - Gothic Mermaid by RURUART

I am 2.5 hours into this painting and it is progressing nicely. I have to work on the skull reef and the skull in the gothic mermaid's hands and tighten up the hair, but overall it is nearly done. I am estimating 1 more full hour. Right now she needs to dry thoroughly.

This morning the canvas with collage surface is completely dry and I am beginning to work on the mermaid. Her skin right now is titan buff (golden fluid acrylic) and you can see the outline of a skull she is holding.

The foundation for my mermaid painting on canvas has been laid. A collage surface on canvas will create a textured surface for me to paint on and give the final product it's character. For collage material I used some old wrapping paper and brown paper and to adhere the material to the canvas I am using matte medium acrylic by blick. You can also use acrylic mediums by Golden or whatever you feel will work best. For the background color I am using blacks, umber, brown and deep rich earth tones.

I need to let this dry 12 hours and then I will feel comfortable working on it again. In the meantime I can start work on another stipple drawing. Thank You for looking!

This drawing at it's final stage will have approx 14,000 dots. I made a calculation and I might be off a bit, since I am not a math major, but I can check with the engineers in my family to double check, but at 4 -5 dots per second at top speed for 60 minutes strait well ... it's at least 10,000 tiny dots. I usually put 3 hours or so into a small drawing. The size of this Snow Bird is 3.5" x 3.5" approx.

The originals (Santa 5,000 and Nativity 2011) are no longer available ... the next time I will be creating another Nativity scene is for Christmas 2012 and also I probably will not be making more Santa's this season ... since it is almost Christmas and I am finished working as of tonight on any artwork. Right now I am sending off Christmas greetings to a few people and getting ready for Christmas eve which is one of my favorite nights of the year.

Of course if someone writes to me and asks me to make a Nativity scene, it could be done the day of if I am not very busy, but I am so super busy ... last minute getting ready for the holiday and family and jamming as much into a holiday as humanly possible!

So far so good ... i still want to add some sledders on the hill, or maybe a country road ... i think i need to put it down and come back to it. This is much larger than I usually work and to do something with the detail I like to incorporate is a full day of work. To me it is worth it to see the final results manifest. I like detail and so far my favorite parts are the tiny ice skaters, the snowman and the couple on the bridge.

The Fish & the Moon

“The Fish and the Moon”

Once upon a time there was a Goldfish.
The Goldfish lived in a Lake and high above the Lake was the Moon.
Every night the Moon shone brightly on the water which made the Goldfish very curious.
The shining light on the surface of the water made the Goldfish hungry and so up to the surface of the water he went in search of food, but there was none to be found.
The Goldfish looked and looked for where the light was coming from and he saw high up into the sky a round bright light.
That bright light in the sky is the Moon and the little Tiny Fish was so curious about it that he flew out of the Lake up to see for himself what this 'Moon' was all about.
Yes, the Tiny Fish FLEW right out of the Lake and into the sky.
Up past the lily pads and the frogs that rest upon them.
UP past the tree tops and the birds which nestle in their branches.
UP past the houses and up past the clouds!
The little Fish went higher and higher still until at last he met the moon and said "Hello."
The Moon said to the Tiny Fish "Hello and how do you do Tiny Fish!"
"Hi." said the Tiny Fish, "My name is Tiny and I live in the Lake which you shine your light upon way down below on the Earth. I wanted to come up and visit you."
"Well, actually ..." said the Moon who is old and wise, "The light you see comes from the sun which lights up your home during the day. I just reflect the rays of the sun."
"Oh" said Tiny and he gave the Moon a kiss and said goodnight, because it was way past his bedtime and flew back down to the Lake below.
Down past the clouds and the tall buildings, down past the treetops and the birds which rest in their branches, DOWN past the lily pads and the sleeping frogs and into the Lake where Tiny Fish sleeps.
"Good night Tiny!" said the Moon!
"Good night moon!" said Tiny.
Tomorrow is another day.

if you look close you can see some red ... ignore that, i just need to clean my scanner. Right now there are over 1,500 dots in this drawing. I am looking forward to seeing this progress. I started at 12:30, but then took a little lunch break .... so hard to keep track of my time, but I'd say 1 hour of work time into the drawing.

So far there are over 2,000 dots and I still need to add more to the night sky ... i count to 100 and then start over and so I know since I lost track a few times that there are over 1,000 and probably closer to over 2,000. The final drawing will be black and white with over 3,000 dots. Since I can make the dots faster than I can count I loose track pretty quick, it's not really about how many dots as it is about making a cool looking picture. I have to resist the urge to cross hatch! I so wanted to do cross hatching and really had to fight it. Just dots really does take a lot of discipline. The total time into this piece right now is 2 hours. I don't watch the clock too close, but I know that I was up until midnight working on it and started at about 8 or 9pm in the evening. My 2 year old interrupts me, but I figure at least 2 hours. And my hand felt like it got a good work out too.

The final drawing has approx. 3,000 dots. I spent over 3 hours stippling and seems to be at the finish stage. I love the look of it and even though it took a very long time to stipple all of those dots, to me the final product is worth it.

What do do next? Not sure, but maybe some more celestial creations with the Stars and the Moon.

I rarely work in that style, but sometimes it happens. My sexual, erotic art is in no way pornographic, demeaning, demonic or foul, but rather meant as an interpretation of the human sexual energies and how they affect our psyche. My erotic nude artwork may be realistic, surrealist, expressionist or illustration style. Some of this work may fall into the surrealist category ...there is a lot of GARBAGE in my opinion and not a lot of true fine art in the erotic category ... if you want a good laugh, take a look at some of what is out there. It's pretty funny. There are a few very talented artists who I respect though too ... so check them out, it is always fun to see how another person interprets sexuality. There are more than meets the eye to erotic artwork, a lot of underlying emotions can be seen in a true artist's painting. You decide weather or not something is rubbish.

The Dreamer's Dream

The under painting is a collage surface with material such as old envelopes, one canceled Canada stamp, a card from an old deck of cards, papers and other material. So far it is coming along nicely. I have had this canvas for several years now and finally decided to work with it again. After setting it aside ... I came back to it with fresh energy. The title is "The Dreamer's Dream" and I plan to make it more dreamy ... not quite sure how the final product will look. As far as bidding goes on this size canvas I start at 49.50 on up. A Teddy Bear ornament for my son and his 2nd ChristmasNot For Sale If I am going to make more of these to sell I would have to charge $50 a piece since the time it takes to make one seems to be about 4 hours!
